Facebook, Twitter remove fake accounts for better transparency

Facebook deleted 1.27 billion fake accounts, meaning digital marketing campaigns now have better data to provide a clearer picture of ad campaign results, as fake profiles will no longer be represented in analytics and billing. Yelp not legally responsible for removing negative reviews

On July 2, The California Supreme Court ruled that Yelp is not responsible for removing negative reviews from the site, but can remove posts at its own discretion. The New York Times has the full story.

 

Google updates Chrome to label HTTP sites as ‘not secure’

With the release of Chrome 68, websites without HTTPS encryption will be labeled as “not secure” in an effort to tighten security around the web. Google announced the changes would be coming back in February, but have just now gone live. Learn more on the Google Developers Blog.

 

eMarketer releases new worldwide OTT video service figures

eMarketer’s latest report on over-the-top advertising estimates there are 765 million worldwide streaming OTT content at least once per month. eMarketer expects this number to rise by 24% before the year is over. See the full report here.
